- Belize has a stable economy with the Belize dollar tied to the U.S. dollar at the long-standing rate of 2 to 1.
- Although Belize is considered a third-world country by most, it still has all the advantages of North American access through convenient international banking and the Internet.
- English is the official language of Belize, although Spanish is also widely spoken.
- Non-Belizeans may own property or businesses at 100% with fee simple title.
Belize is a unique country with equally unique tourism adventures. His talent for both management and finance were soon recognized and he was quickly promoted to Assistant General Manager at the California Hotel. During his tenure, the property grew from a modest 297 rooms to 635. He opened three new restaurants, and completely remodeled the public areas. It was at the California that he developed a love of island culture because the primary market for the California Hotel is Hawaii.
After a five-year sojourn as Director of Hawaiian Operations for Coast Resorts in Honolulu, Rod returned to the United States and began consulting. It was during this time he discovered Belize, fell in love with the country, and began searching for the perfect resort project on Ambergris Caye.
